Competing in the “Amazing race,” Blake visited Argentina where he birthed the idea of Tom’s. Children weren’t able to attend school if they didn’t have a pair of shoes. Women were running a shoe drive which caused Blake to come up with his own shoe idea.
Blake wanted to be able to give away a pair of Tom’s for every Toms sold and that is exactly what he did. Children in the Ethiopian area suffer from a foot disease called Podoconiosis, which is due to not wearing shoes.Blake wanted to touch the lives of these young people by delivering to Ethiopia to help bring about Social change.
